Tuesday: Mountasia & Reconciliation
Mountasia…go-karts, bumper boats, put-put, oh my!! The kids played and played for four hours!! Took a quick lunch break, and then it was on to more games!! Not much of a story there. Quite a few got rather wet in the bumper boats, others did go-karts till it was time to leave! Some tried their hand at put-put, but when the Texas heat was just too much, it was inside to arcade games! Sometimes, it’s the simple things in life, like have AC!!!
When we arrived back at Church, we calmed down, and began to focus on our lesson for the afternoon. Reconciliation; Confession. We jumped back to Monday to begin our discussion of why we have Reconciliation. He died on the Cross for us, so that we may be forgiven. While dying on the Cross, He tells His Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.
There are no perfect people. We are all going to fall at times, and we are all going to make mistakes; it’s human nature. But, how lucky are we to have such an awesome God? One that sends His own Son, so that our sins may be forgiven? One who will forgive our shortcomings, and give us a second chance. It reminds me of this story from the Gospel of Luke.
“Coming to his senses he thought, ‘How many of my father’s hired workers have more than enough to eat, but here I am dying of hunger. I shall get up and go to my father and I shall say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I no longer deserve to be called your son; treat me as you would treat one of your hired workers. ‘’ So he got up and went back to his father. While he was still a long way off, his father caught sight of him, and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son.’ But his father ordered his servants, ‘Quickly bring the finest robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Take the fattened calf and slaughter it. Then let us celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost, and has been found.’ Then the celebration began.”
Luke 15:17-24
He loves us so much, that even when we turn our backs from Him, sin against Him, He is still there waiting with open arms to catch us as we come running home again. It’s like being a young child and getting excited to go home and see Dad!!
During reconciliation, you are receiving God’s Grace. The Grace to help you to live a life of little sin. He wipes your slate clean, and gives you a second chance. He FORGIVES you of what you have done!! We are so lucky and so blessed!
A song that comes to mind is "Your Grace is Enough,' by Matt Maher. It's wonderful!!
"Great is Your faithfulness, O God
You wrestle with the sinner's restless heart
You lead us by still waters into mercy
And nothing can keep us apart. So, remember Your people,
Remember Your children,
Remember Your promise, O God.
Your grace is enough.
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me..."
You wrestle with the sinner's restless heart
You lead us by still waters into mercy
And nothing can keep us apart. So, remember Your people,
Remember Your children,
Remember Your promise, O God.
Your grace is enough.
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me..."
For our service, we were blessed to be able to have seven Priests come. We walked over, got the kids situated in the pews, and I went up and told them whenever they were ready, they could go. I think it was the longest five minutes when no one moved. Then slowly, one at a time, they started going, then we had lines!! Lines, waiting to go!!! Go God!!! Our afternoon was very blessed, and I wish I could give them the opportunity all the time, but all you can do is plant the seeds.
Tuesday Lesson: Offer them the Sacraments.
